Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 detections rose to 576,194 with 762 persons testing positive for COVID-19 yesterday and the addition of over 1,500 delayed cases to the total.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 1,783 COVID-19 cases detected between 12 November and 30 November were added to the total case count yesterday following verification.
Health officials also stated that 760 persons from the New Year cluster and two overseas arrivals tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday. According to the Health Promotion Bureau, 7,029 PCR tests were conducted yesterday.
The previous day, 6,744 PCR tests and 2,604 rapid antigen tests were conducted and 747 persons tested positive for COVID-19. The COVID-19 patients detected on Monday include 745 persons from the New Year cluster and two Sri Lankan overseas arrivals.
A total of 471,285 patients have been detected from the New Year cluster, 82,785 patients have been detected from the Peliyagoda cluster, 9,060 patients have been detected from the Prisons cluster, and 3,059 patients have been detected from the Divulapitiya cluster.
The country’s imported cases include 7,001 Sri Lankan overseas returnees and 328 foreigners.
The district distribution of COVID-19 patients shows 116,223 persons from Colombo, 99,725 persons from Gampaha, 53,436 persons from Kalutara, 36,794 persons from Galle, and 28,159 persons from Kurunegala.
During the third wave of the pandemic, 83,926 persons from Colombo, 81,191 persons from Gampaha, and 46,378 persons from Kalutara.
At present, 15,765 persons are under medical or home-based care and 2,687 persons suspected of having COVID-19 are under observation.
The country’s COVID-19 recoveries rose to 545,768 with 335 persons were released from care yesterday.
