Health authorities yesterday confirmed six COVID-19 deaths, stating that the country’s COVID-19 death toll has risen to 544.
According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, an individual from Polgahawela died of COVID pneumonia on Thursday at the Kandy General Hospital, where he was transferred from the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital. The individual was 70 years old.
A 79-year-old individual from Suduhumpola died of heart disease and COVID pneumonia while receiving treatment at the Kandy General Hospital on 17 March.
On 14 March, a 96-year-old individual from Pita Kotte died of exacerbated COVID-19 at her place of residence.
According to health authorities, an 83-year-old individual from Wattala died of exacerbated COVID-19 at her place of residence on 19 February.
The previous day, an individual from Ganemulla died of exacerbated COVID-19, acute diabetes, and high blood pressure at home. The individual was 72 years old.
On 10 February, a 73-year-old individual from Shilawatura died of exacerbated COVID-19 at her place of residence.
