Under its 100-day program the Government has decided to release 1,000 acres of land in Valikamam North and East. 430 acres of land have already been released to the original owners of lands for resettlement on 23 March 2015 by President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.
Minister of Resettlement, Reconstruction and Hindu Religious Affairs D.M Swaminathan announced that the balance 570 acres of land in Valikamam North and East were to be released on 10 April for resettlement by the Government.
The Government Agent and respective Divisional Secretaries visited the earmarked areas yesterday and requested the owners of the lands to register themselves with the Divisional Secretariat.
