The first dose of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine was administered to 41,939 persons on Thursday and 421 persons received the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine the same day.
A total of 563,409 persons have received the first dose of Sinopharm to date and the second dose has been administered to 2,435 Chinese nationals working in Sri Lanka.
The first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 925,242 persons and the second dose has been administered to 341,962 of them.
The first dose of the Sputnik V vaccine has been administered to 14,984 persons.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 1,503,635 persons in the country have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca, Sinopharm or Sputnik V vaccine and 344,397 persons have received the second dose.
Meanwhile, Pharmaceutical Production, Supply and Regulation State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana yesterday stated that an order of one million doses of Sinopharm is due to be released to the country on 6 June.
“In addition to the districts where vaccination is currently taking place, arrangements will be made to direct vaccines we receive in future in the Ratnapura and Jaffna Districts. Vaccination in the Ratnapura District will commence on 30 May,” Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said.
