The first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine was administered to 417,815 persons on Wednesday and 75.8% of the country’s population over the age of 30 has received the first dose of a vaccine while 17.3% have received both doses.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 100% of persons over the age of 30 in the Colombo and Matale Districts have received the first dose of a vaccine and the second dose has been administered to 32% of Colombo’s population over 30 and 11.1% of Matale’s population over 30.
Over 90% of the eligible population in Gampaha, Kandy, and Mannar have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. In total, 8,718,433 persons have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 1,994,384 persons have received the second dose as well. This includes 6,769,468 persons who received the first dose of Sinopharm and 1,593,996 persons who received the second dose of Sinopharm. On Wednesday, 344,458 persons received the first dose of Sinopharm and 32,288 persons received the second dose of Sinopharm.
The first dose of Pfizer was administered to 40,912 persons on Wednesday and a total of 155,017 persons have received the first dose of the vaccine to date.
In addition to this, 157 persons received the first dose of Moderna on Wednesday, raising the number of persons to receive the first dose of Moderna to 709,625.
The Epidemiology Unit states that the Sputnik V first dose has been administered to 159,081 persons and the second dose to 14,503 persons.
The first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 925,242 persons and the second dose to 385,885 persons.
