A total of 308 COVID-19 patients were detected over the weekend and the country’s total COVID-19 patient count has risen to 93,436.
This includes 141 COVID-19 patients detected yesterday, of which 115 were associates of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster and sever were from the Prisons cluster.
On Saturday, 167 persons tested positive for COVID-19, including 128 persons from sub-clusters associated with the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster, 32 Sri Lankan returnees from abroad, and seven persons from the Prisons cluster.
53 persons from Colombo, 17 persons from Gampaha, and 10 persons from Kalutara were among the patients detected on Saturday.
The triple clusters that emerged from Divulapitiya, Peliyagoda and Prisons have risen to 88,547, with the country’s total patient count also including 2,743 Sri Lankan returnees from abroad, 950 Navy personnel and their contacts, 651 persons linked to the Kandakadu cluster, and 213 foreigners.
The district distribution of COVID-19 patients shows 29,963 persons from Colombo, 18,451 persons from Gampaha, 6,706 persons from Kalutara, 4,206 persons from Kandy, and 2,903 persons from Ratnapura.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 2,647 persons are currently under medical care. This includes 252 persons at the Kopai Treatment Centre, 134 persons at the Krishnapuram Treatment Centre, and 90 persons at the Bingiriya Treatment Centre. Hospitals are also monitoring 359 persons suspected of having COVID-19. The Epidemiology Unit adds that 187 persons were discharged from hospitals yesterday having recovered from the virus. This includes 25 persons from the Embilipitiya Treatment Centre, 19 persons from the Kopai Treatment Centre, 16 persons from the Laggala Pallegama District Hospital and 16 persons from the Lunawa District Hospital. A total of 90,208 persons have recovered from the virus to date.
