Three persons including former deputy minister Sarana Gunawardena were remanded yesterday until August 26th.
The suspects were remanded by Gampaha Magistrate S.C. Perera after they were produced before the court in connection with assaulting a UNP supporter in Gampaha town on August 14th.
Sarana Gunawardana was in remand for an alleged Rs. 9.6 million fraud, and released on bail prior to this incident.
He was charged for the breach of agreement, where he had promised a businessman to provide scrap iron from a BOI company, and failing to do so.
In addition, Sarana Gunawardana was recently removed from the Attanagalla chief organizer position as well.
He was also denied nomination in the recently concluded general election.
