The first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine was administered to 248,656 persons on Sunday, increasing the number of persons to receive the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to 11,081,092 and the number of persons to receive the second dose to 2,938,568.
Of this, 8,794,593 persons have received the first dose of Sinopharm and 2,061,775 persons have received the second dose. On Sunday, the Sinopharm first dose was administered to 69,041 persons and the second dose to 153,678 persons.
The Epidemiology Unit stated that 23,135 persons received the first dose of AstraZeneca on Sunday, while 1,021 persons received the second dose of the vaccine. In total, the AstraZeneca first dose has been administered to 1,127,008 persons and the second dose to 861,744 persons.
The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine was also administered on Sunday, with 995 persons receiving the first dose. While the second dose is yet to be administered, the first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 748,936 persons.
On Sunday, 711 persons received the first dose of Pfizer and 75 persons received the second dose of Pfizer. In total, the first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 251,474 persons and the second dose to 533 persons.
Meanwhile, a batch of 78,390 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine arrived in the island yesterday.
In addition to this, the Sputnik V first dose has been administered to 159,081 persons and the second dose to 14,516 persons.
As of Sunday, 96.4% of the country’s population over 30 had received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 25.6% had received the second dose as well.
In Colombo, Gampaha, Kandy, Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Vavuniya Districts 100% first dose coverage has been achieved in the population over 30.
