The COVID-19 vaccine was administered to 213,737 persons on Thursday and the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to over 12 million persons in the country, with 5.3 million persons having received the second dose as well.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 12,053,137 persons have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 5,311,784 persons have received both doses.
Second dose coverage in the country has risen to 46.2%, with over 70% second dose coverage achieved in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, and Matale Districts.
On Thursday, 21,371 persons received the first dose of Sinopharm and 107,930 persons received the second dose of Sinopharm. In total, the first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 9,551,446 persons and the second dose to 4,281,177 persons.
The first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine was administered to 480 persons on Thursday and the second dose was administered to 71,314 persons. Since administration of the Moderna vaccine commenced last month, 771,201 persons have received the first dose and 98,634 persons have received the second dose.
The first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 1,317,456 persons and the second dose to 874,747 persons. This includes the 2,519 persons who received the first dose and 511 persons who received the second dose on Thursday.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 1,392 persons received the first dose of Pfizer on Thursday, raising the total number of persons to receive the first dose of the vaccine to 253,946. The second dose of Pfizer was administered to 2,205 persons on Thursday and the second dose has been administered to 42,701 persons in total.
On Thursday, seven persons received the first dose of Sputnik V and eight persons received the second dose of Sputnik V. According to the Epidemiology Unit, 159,088 persons have received the first dose of the vaccine and 14,525 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine.
