The Government is currently making the necessary arrangements to allocate monies in the 2013 budget to implement the recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC).

Head of the Presidential Task Force on the implementation of the LLRC recommendations, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga said while releasing the National Action Plan to implement the LLRC recommendations, that funding was required for most ministries to carry out the implementation work.

Treasury Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera said allocations required by ministries for the implementation of the LLRC recommendations would be made from next year onwards.

He has added that the Government is currently working on preparing the 2013 budget. The Cabinet of ministers approving the National Action Plan last month decided that the General Treasury will provide the required funds, depending on the requirement and within the stipulated time frame. Separate budget lines to undertake tasks that fall under the National Action Plan will be considered when presenting the 2013 budget, Secretary to the President said.
