A group of 17 crew members of an Indian oil tanker arrived in Sri Lanka have been diagnosed with COVID-19 on Saturday.
PCR tests were conducted on all the crew members of the Indian oil tanker after one of them showed symptoms of COVID-19.
Tests have confirmed that all 17 crew members were positive for the virus.
A group of Sri Lankans who worked with them have also been quarantined. Several Sri Lankans have gone to inspect the oil tanker that arrived in the Port of Colombo recently. The oil tanker carrying 4,000 Metric Tons of fuel from India is currently anchored at the Trincomalee port to unload the oil.
The Ministry of Health says that all the staff are Indians.
