14,500 graduates apply for 3,000 teacher vacancies

 The Examinations Department is to hold a competitive examination to recruit 3,000 graduates to the teaching service, Commissioner General of Examinations, Anura Edirisinghe said.

The examination is to be held on 24 September at 90 examination centres in the Colombo District.

Around 14,500 graduates will be sitting the exam to fill the 3,000 teacher vacancies in the provincial council and national schools.

A large number of Sri Lankan graduates expect government sector jobs and the majority of them are graduates of liberal arts. (www.colombopage.com)
