Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll neared 12,000 with the confirmation of 121 COVID-19 deaths on Thursday.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 92 persons over the age of 60, 28 persons aged between 30 and 59, and one person below the age of 30 were among the COVID-19 deaths confirmed on Thursday.
The majority of the COVID-19 fatalities continue to be in the over 60 age category, with 76.5% of the total fatalities belonging to this age group, 22.35% belonging to the 30 to 59 age group, and 1.15% belonging to the below 30 age group.
62 COVID-19 fatalities confirmed on Thursday were male and 59 were female. According to the Epidemiology Unit, 6,685 of the total fatalities are male and 5,253 are female. A total of 11,938 COVID-19 fatalities have been confirmed by health officials to date.
