TVS, the premier micro automotive company specialising in motorcycles, scooters and three wheelers, launched its much awaited motorcycle variant Apache 200cc to the Sri Lankan market.
Apache is an award-winning brand, having won the title of ‘Bike of The Year’ 10 times and ‘NDTV’s ‘Motor Bike of the Year 2017’, and was described as the most intelligent machine ever presented to Sri Lankan consumers.
At its launch, the new model was lowered from a helicopter onto Mount Lavinia beach.

TVSL Head of Marketing Hashan Haputhanthri said: “The bike has been designed to unleash the racing DNA among youth and technology which takes it from 0-60 kph within 3.9 seconds. The unique intelligent features of the new variant include a digital interactive system which provides a lap timer on remaining fuel, an ODC Meter, an alpha numeric message display start up message and system health check indicator, gear indication, clock, service reminder, low battery indicator, digital fuel level indicator, Pulse Digital Tachometer and a Trip1, Trip2, Top Speed, Shortest Time and Trip Fuel Indicator. The technology that powers the new Apache RTR 200 makes it better than the competition and will appeal to the premium segment through its ground breaking innovation.”
Further, the new variant has more distinctive features such as the exhaust where Apache boasts a double-barrel exhaust which can only be found in a few European versions while the monoshocks in an Apache do not suffer from any time lag like other regular shock absorbers, resulting in a smooth ride on any road and non-stop performance on racetracks. The front suspension, digital interactive speedometer which records performance data while riding, like lap time, etc. helps the biker to improve his race performance with professional feedback as the data is authentic. The rider can also enjoy computerised feedback which no other bike provides with digital interaction with the rev limiter and lap timer. The machine, also known as the Killer Shark, has an advanced four-valve racing O3C oil cooled over square and the five-speed engine is equipped with a balancer shaft mechanism and is programmed to whip up an impressive 20.5 PS @8500 rpm with a torque of 18.1 Nm @ 7000 rpm. The technology behind RTR 200 is what helps term it ‘Sri Lanka’s most intelligent machine’.
