Leading tyre-brand Pirelli is sponsoring the Porsche Driving Experience, an event that offers car-enthusiasts the opportunity to experience, at close range, six top-of-the-range German-built sport scars that have never before been seen or driven in Sri Lanka.

Beginning from mid-September, the one-month Porsche Driving Experience is a series of motor events including four exclusive track-driving events and public showcases at select locations. The mean, lean motor-machines on display are the 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet, 911 Turbo, Panamera GTS, Cayenne GTS and the Macan GTS. They are all prime examples of classic Porsche design - a discipline that seamlessly balances revolutionary technology with outstanding performance and efficiency.

Pirelli is the ideal complement to these vehicles; with superior design technology, Pirelli is the original equipment manufacturer for many leading super-car brands in the world. Known as homologations, these cars require a specific make of tyre that can endure high performance. Pirelli designs and manufactures homologated tyres that are both durable and eco-friendly.

The research and development phase involves consultations with car manufacturers, engineers and test-drivers and consists of tweaking existing designs for ultimate performance. For example, changing the footprint of the tyre’s tread pattern is often the difference between a quiet or noisy ride. Experiments, 3D simulations and multiple testing stages mean that a Pirelli tyre can take an average of three years to be developed. Exchange of information and requirements, continuous feedback and cross checking are all aimed at developing the perfect tyre. When the product is launched in its final form, it is evident that there is no vehicle that performs better than one fitted with bespoke tyres.

Toyota Lanka is the authorised importer and distributor for Pirelli tyres in Sri Lanka. Spare Parts of Toyota Lanka General Manager Priyantha Perera said, “Pirelli tyres complete a vehicle. A true feat of engineering, it is the ideal partner for high performance motoring events in Sri Lanka.”

The vehicles equipped with Pirelli tyres will be on display at the Porsche Centre Showroom in Kelaniya on weekdays. Pirelli’s state of the art tyre service centres are available at Wattala, Maharagama, Rathmalana and Negombo to cater to the service requirements of any make of vehicle. The tyres are also available at all Toyota Lanka (Pvt) Limited branches in Panchikawatta, Nugegoda, Kandy, Galle, Anuradhapura, Kaluthara, Gamapaha, Negombo, Ampara, and Ratnapura.
