Ford Motor Company unveiled the highly anticipated all-new Ford Ranger at the Ceylon Motor Show 2012, where Sri Lankan consumers will be able to see and experience the redesigned vehicle for the first time. The class-leading compact pickup truck has been completely reinvented, offering superior performance, safety, technology and quality.
Ford returns to the Ceylon Motor Show this year with its authorised dealer partner for the Sri Lanka market – Future Automobiles (Pvt) Ltd., Subsidiary of Softlogic Holdings. They are showcasing a range of five award-winning vehicles that offer consumers the power of choice.
Joining the highlight all-new Ranger Double Cab XLT in Aurora Blue are the all-new Focus Titanium, Ford Fiesta (four-door), Ford Figo (five-door) and Ford Everest SUV.
“Ford’s return to the Ceylon Motor Show underscores our commitment to Sri Lankan consumers,” said DJ Simpson, District Manager, South East Asia, Ford Export and Growth Operations.
“We are excited to introduce them to the all-new Ranger – a vehicle that delivers exactly what today’s compact pickup truck buyers are looking for. Ranger combines the capability and performance drivers expect, with innovative new features, comfort and safety,” added Simpson.
Softlogic Holdings Future Automobiles Chairman/Managing Director Ashok Pathirage said, “Our first year of partnership with Ford has been an enormous success and the Ford brand continues to grow in Sri Lanka. With an increasing selection of redesigned, high-quality vehicles equipped with the latest technologies, Ford is bringing its best-in-class line-up to Sri Lankan customers.”
All-new Ranger takes centre stage
Available to Sri Lankan customers will be Ranger’s new 2.2 L and the 3.2 L Duratorq engines. The Duratorq TDCi 3.2L VG Turbo leads the way with a substantial 470 Nm of torque and power rated at 147 kW (200 PS).
For those who prefer a smaller engine that doesn’t skimp on horsepower, the new Duratorq TDCi 2.2L VG Turbo delivers peak torque output of 375 Nm and power output of 110 kW (150 PS), unsurpassed by Ranger’s larger 2.5 L competitors.
Totally new from the ground up, Ranger was designed and developed to be among the forerunners – if not the pack leaders – in every area that is important to the customers, especially those who use it for both work and leisure purposes. The pickup now delivers impressive payload capability and, at the same time, is fitted out with innovative and comfort features that a dual user has come to want and value.
For nearly 20 years, Ranger has been one of Ford’s most popular pickups across the globe, providing millions of customers with Ford Tough Truck capabilities.
Having gone through a comprehensive global development program, the all-new Ranger builds on its strong heritage and is now set to blaze new trails ahead.
Ranger’s power trains have been engineered to give customers a superior combination of power and torque at class-leading fuel efficiency. Exuding power and confidence in a styling that the designers call “21st Century Tough”, the taut and muscular Ranger is equally at home on a construction site or outside classy entertainment outlets. Its front end features a short overhang with the signature three-bar grille, a global Ford truck design cue.
From impr-essive gains in power and fuel economy – the result of its new engine family – to outstanding pickup truck capability that includes exceptional towing and payload capacity, the next-generation Ford Ranger emerges as a clear segment leader.
It not only builds on the tremendous Ranger heritage of capability, but it also gives owners a spacious, comfortable, feature-filled interior and sophisticated driving experience that they would expect only from a Ford vehicle.
The all-new Ranger is the latest in a wave of global products driven by the ‘One Ford’ strategy. Designed, engineered and based on a new global compact truck platform, Ranger has been transformed to assert true pickup truck leadership.
