Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) recently introduced the all new C-Class (W205) at the DIMO 800 amidst a selected gathering of customers, accompanied by a spectacular show.
Ambassador of Germany to Sri Lanka Dr. Jurgen Morhard was the Guest of Honour at the event. Chairman Ranjith Pandithage, CEO Gahanath Pandithage and the senior management of DIMO together with the Mercedes-Benz Sales Team lead by Rajeev Pandithage (Head of Mercedes-Benz Sales and Parts) and the Mercedes-Benz Service Team lead by Tharanga Gunawardena (General Manager – Mercedes-Benz Service) were present at the event.
This was the very first time that a 3-D projection system on a floor was done in Sri Lanka, and it mesmerised the audience and made the night a memorable one.
The C-Class is the biggest-selling model series from Mercedes-Benz. Sales of the preceding model, which was launched in 2007, totalled over 2.2 million worldwide.
“Mercedes-Benz has introduced another great car fitting the motto – The Best or Nothing. This can be considered a baby S-Class and DIMO is
proud to introduce this car to Sri Lanka as the only Authorised Distributor,” said Ranjith Pandithage.
The C-Class has grown with the evolving times and is designed taking into account the people’s increasing average height. With an 80-millimetre increase in the wheelbase (2,840 millimetres) compared with the previous model, the vehicle is 95 millimetres longer (4,686 millimetres) and 40 millimetres wider (1,810 millimetres).
There is a choice of two different faces: sporty with a centrally positioned star or – for the Exclusive line only – the classic saloon radiator grille featuring the Mercedes star on the bonnet. The new C-Class comes with H7 halogen headlamps as standard. In addition to the standard-fit headlamps, two energy-saving LED variants are available: a static system and a dynamic version with ‘LED Intelligent Light System’. The characteristic night design lends the new C-Class its very own distinctive look in the dark, too. The rear lamp and brake light in the tail lights feature LED technology in all headlamp versions.
A head-up display added is also new to the C-Class. Like in a jet fighter, it displays important information directly in the driver’s field of vision on the front windscreen, thus providing for clear legibility and ensuring that the driver is less distracted from the road ahead.
It is the declared aim of Mercedes-Benz to make the highest standard of safety available to everyone. To this end, the new C-Class incorporates almost all of the new assistance systems with a host of enhanced functions which is in the S-Class and E-Class. The assistance systems enhance both comfort and safety. Mercedes-Benz calls this Intelligent Drive. The new C-Class features a 360 degree camera, which is able to show the vehicle and its surroundings from various perspectives, which paves the way for a virtual bird’s eye view.
A completely new multimedia generation offers intuitive operation in the new C-Class, featuring elaborate animations and visual effects which present all the functions in a clear and highly attractive manner. The new C-Class is also equipped with the unique Frontbass system while a Burmester surround sound system is optionally available as well.
The new C-Class is available on the permit and also as ex-stock from DIMO – the only Authorised Distributor for Mercedes-Benz in Sri Lanka. The new C-Class can be experienced at the new DIMO 800 – Mercedes-Benz Center for Excellence at Colombo 14.
