Classic Car Club of Ceylon takes to the hills to kick off 25th anniversary celebrations

The hills of Kandy and Nuwara Eliya will once again be filled with the elegant and timeless silhouettes of automobiles of a by-gone era as the Classic Car Club of Ceylon (CCCC) kicks off its 25th Anniversary Celebrations with the Heritage Hill Climb from 9-11 September. 

Evoking memories of a time when these stylish and distinctive vehicles once ruled the road, the event will provide club members with the opportunity to showcase their vehicles, rev their engines and drive along with like Minded Classic Car enthusiasts as they take in the sights along the scenic route from Colombo to Kandy.

Organised by the CCCC together with event sponsors, Hayleys PLC, McLarens Lubricants Ltd. and Frontier Automotive Ltd., the second leg of the Heritage Hill Climb will see participants drive to Nuwara Eliya where they will have the opportunity to navigate the historic Mahagastota Hill Climb. 

The parade itself will be showcased in the CCCC’s 25th Anniversary calendar in addition to further photography sessions for each participating vehicle. Members of the Club will also be given an opportunity to run up Mahagastota Hill Climb, in their Classic Cars, finally culminating with lunch in Nuwara Elliya and a gala dinner back in Kandy later that evening. 

Given the strong participation received at previous CCCC events and based on the enthusiasm expressed by its membership in the build up to the event, club officials anticipate that the Heritage Hill Climb will likely be the largest event for the club during the calendar year. 

Established in 1992, the Classic Car Club of Ceylon has long been the premier organisation that brings together people with a profound respect and love for Classic Cars. Consisting of a membership of over 250 individuals, the Club has established a reputation for consistently organising events that provide an innovative platform to showcase Classic Cars in Sri Lanka and exercise such vehicles within a safe environment.  

The Club also plays an important role in networking its members, enabling them to interact and share knowledge and ideas in order to better preserve and maintain these masterful examples of Unique automotive engineering and encourage restoration.  

Additionally, by hosting such high-profile events, the CCCC aims to drive the love for classics by organising public and educational events giving a wider audience access to the history and beauty of these cars.
