Sunday, 24 February 2013 will be remembered as a very special day for everyone associated to the Abans-Hero family, as it marked the commencement of the inaugural Abans-Hero Partners and Showroom Managers Convention 2013. Over 150 partners and showroom managers of Abans-Hero island-wide were present during this grand occasion.

Approximately six months after the go-getter duo Abans and Hero joined hands to bring Hero motorbikes and scooters to Sri Lanka, significant strides have been made into the local market in all parts of the island and day after day, the hype and enthusiasm for Hero bikes and scooters is increasing in a remarkable manner.

The proceedings kicked off for the evening after an entertaining dance act and the lighting of a ‘human’ oil lamp, which comprised of several dancers elegantly holding up a lamp for each respective dignitary of the Abans and Hero senior management to light. Tito Pestonjee, Director of Abans, delivered a rousing welcome speech, in which he expressed his delight at having so many members of the Abans-Hero family together under one roof.

Lokesh Ghai, Manager of Hero MotoCorp, India – the number one two-wheeler company in the world, delivered the keynote speech for the evening. In his speech, he commended the Abans-Hero partners and showroom managers for their stellar effort to spread the Hero brand in Sri Lanka and capture the hearts of local customers.

Tijith Rathnayake, Brand Manager of Hero, presented an insightful presentation that showed the vast strides that Abans-Hero has made in such a short span of time. His presentation also highlighted the top performing partners and showrooms throughout the island. While lauding the exceptional efforts of these teams, he also thanked them for their continued support and hard work in taking the Hero brand to various parts of the country.

After a brief recess and another exciting dance act, Aruna Somasiri, Head of Credit, Abans Finance, explained the value of leasing facilities with concise but insightful facts, which would undoubtedly improve leasing facilities offered by both partners and showrooms.  The final presentation of the evening on ‘Hero Service’ was given by Roshan Jayasinghe, DGM, Service of Abans Auto. In his presentation, he outlined the importance of offering after-sales service to customers and mentioned key benefits of the service offered by Hero. Tito Pestonjee, Director, Abans, Channa Pathirana, Deputy Director, Abans, and Lalindra Brahmana, Senior DGM, Abans, then hosted an interactive Q&A session with the partners and showroom managers, in which very useful information and feedback exchanged hands and of course, a few light-hearted moments were also shared.

The much anticipated awards ceremony felicitated the top performing partners and showroom managers in each district and the top five performing partners and showroom managers were also recognised. A special holiday package was also awarded to the number one performer in the island in recognition of exceptional performance. The evening came to a close with a special raffle draw and fellowship between the Abans-Hero family members. Overall, it was an extremely memorable evening for all who were present, which ended with scores of smiles, handshakes and pleasant gestures all around. Without a doubt, many new friendships were also created and renewed. While this occasion will stand out as a memorable day in the history books of Abans-Hero, it also sets the bar high for future conventions to be held. It was an evening that truly encouraged everyone present to keep up their outstanding work and continue to be even bigger ‘heroes’.

During this event, the valuable special edition Titan watch promotion with Hero motorbikes was formally launched. This promotion is open to anyone who purchases a Hero motorbike. This offer will be active until 31 March 2013.
