A large number of substandard and unauthorised lubricants worth Rs. 2.5 million were seized by the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) during an island-wide raid, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said in a statement.
The CAA decided to investigate the importation, production, distribution and sale of lubricants and related products in Sri Lanka due to the increased number of user complaints over low-quality lubricants in the market.
Accordingly, raids on substandard and unauthorised lubricant products will be continuously carried-out by the CAA with the assistance of the PUCSL, the shadow regulator of the lubricant market of Sri Lanka.
