The only authorised distributor for TATA vehicles in Sri Lanka Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) recently delivered four TATA Prima tippers to Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) – Lakvijaya Power Plant, Norochcholai recently.
The four vehicles which were delivered to CEB are with a 16 cubic meter box body and specifically designed for mining operations. The PRIMA tipper range is also available in 18 cubic meter box body for soil and aggregate movement in 6x4 configuration and 20 cubic meter box body in 8x4 configuration for higher volume and loads.
CEB Deputy General Manager Lakvijaya Power Plant Indrasiri Gallage said: “We chose TATA Prima tippers from DIMO because these vehicles are equipped with better payload, faster on-road operations with a spacious comfortable driver cabin and the lowest operating cost. Most importantly DIMO warranty with high resale value and after sales service network.”
At the handing over ceremony DIMO Director Vijitha Bandara said: “The world class TATA Prima construction tippers which come from TATA Motors, the leader in commercial vehicles manufacturing in India, will change the infrastructure development landscape in Sri Lanka with its advanced technology and minimum operating and maintenance cost.”

Thus, in order to meet the stiff requirements of this sector, the TATA Prima construct tipper range comes with world class aggregates like Cummins Engine with power ranging from 250HP to 380HP, transmissions from ZF, heavy duty hub reduction axles, bogie suspension and smart Italian designed Prima cabin with host of features like HVAC, 9 way adjustable pneumatically suspended seats, driver information system, data loggers for multiple drivers and ample storage space.

CEB celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and started Norochcholai operations in 2014 which is the only coal-fired power station in the country.
