• The latest addition to the best hybrid car engine oil range

Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC, marketer of ‘Caltex’, ‘Havoline’, ‘Delo’ and ‘Lanka’ brands, launched its latest ultra-low viscosity passenger motor car oil – Caltex Havoline Pro DS Eco 5 SAE OW-16, at the fifth annual meet up of the Suzuki Wagon R Owners Club of Sri Lanka recently.  

The Club is one of the fastest growing automotive clubs in Sri Lanka with an active member base of about 5,000 Suzuki Wagon R car owners. The launch event was attended by over 650 members of the Club, Chevron’s Asia Pacific Regional Technology Specialist, and senior officials of Chevron Sri Lanka’s Sales, Technology and Marketing departments. 

Demand for hybrid vehicles is increasing globally, with an expected 25% growth in 2020. Furthermore, global car manufacturers and consumers are demanding better performance from lubricants in terms of enhanced fuel efficiency, lower maintenance costs and longer drain intervals. This has created the need for more technologically advanced, resource-conservative lubricants. 

In response to the market needs, Caltex Havoline Pro DS Eco 5 SAE OW-16 was launched in Sri Lanka. The product is the new ultra-low viscosity passenger motor car oil, specially formulated for the new generation of hybrid car designed to operate on ultra-low viscosity required engines, with start-stop capability. The product formulation is powered by Havoline’s Deposit Shield technology and meets the latest industry performance standards; API SN/ RC and API SN plus. 

Our new product has proven to consistently to outperform conventional oils by demonstrating lower oil consumption and facilitating faster engine starts through quicker lubrication. Caltex Havoline Pro DS Eco 5 SAE OW-16 delivers top line performance benefits such as extended engine protection, sludge control for a cleaner engine, excellent oxidation which enables longer oil drain intervals and most importantly improved fuel efficiency. The proof of performance data has shown that Caltex Havoline Pro DS Eco 5 SAE OW-16 minimises engine wear by 50% less when compared to the API SN plus requirement, and it outperforms leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) products. Caltex Havoline Pro DS Eco 5 SAE OW-16 has proven to resist oxidation breakdown up to 37% longer, enabling more travel distance between oil drain intervals.

Caltex Havoline Pro DS Eco 5 SAE OW-16 is mainly recommended for ‘Suzuki Wagon R’ car models manufactured from 2017 onwards and ‘Toyota Aqua’ cars manufactured from 2014 forward. The current range of Caltex Havoline Pro DS Eco 5 is available in the viscosity grades SAE OW-20 and SAE 5W-30 (for turbo charged petrol, hybrid passenger car engines) in Sri Lanka.
