The Institute of Certified Professional Managers (CPM) will partner with the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) to bring about the first International Management Conference on 16 and 17 October 2012 at the Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo.
The theme ‘Change Management in the New Global Economic Order’ takes into account Change Management which is a systematic approach to dealing with change, both from the perspective of an organisation and on the individual level.
The global economy is going through a fundamental transformation. The advanced economies are experiencing major disruption as millions of workers in the emerging economies of China, India, Brazil and elsewhere enter the global production chains. Therefore successful adaptation to change is crucial for any organisation.
The MIM – CPM International Management Conference will address these matters and have invited speakers with experience in these areas to address participants. The last sessions will provide an insight as to how leading companies have successfully implemented change management in their organisations.
The Inauguration will be graced by Palitha Fernando, Attorney General, Chief Guest of the event. The Guest of Honour will be Dr. Ashok Joshi, Vice President – Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia.
Session 1 will be on the topic Change Management in the New Economic Order and the Session Chairman will be Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala – President CPM. Dr. Koshy Mathai – Resident Representative of IMF will speak on Economic Crises in the European Sector, Dr. Nazily Mohd Noor – CEO of MIM will speak on Challenges in the Global Economy – Change Management Perspectives. Economic Expansion and Creation of New Jobs will be addressed by Anushka Wijesinha, Research Economist, Institute of Policy Studies.
The 2nd Session, Organisational Change Management will be Chaired by Priantha Seresinhe - Council Member of CPM. Sunil Dissanayake – Head Group Human Resources of Hayleys Group will speak on Managing Change in Organisation Development, Hasitha Premaratne – CFO of Brandix Lanka Ltd. will speak on ESG and Socially Responsible Investment, and Prof. Athula Ranasinghe – Dean, Faculty of Arts of the University of Colombo will speak on Higher Education in the New Economic Reality.
The first session on Success Stories of Change Management will be chaired by Asoka Hettigoda – Council Member of CPM. There will be a number of speakers from leading companies who will speak on real life experiences of change management. The speakers are Dr. Parakrama Dissanayake – Chairman/CEO of Aitken Spence Maritime and Logistics, Asanga Ranasinghe, Marketing and Communication Director of Unilever Sri Lanka, Lakith Peiris – CEO of Lanka Hospitals, and Dilshan Rodrigo – DGM Risk Management of HNB Plc.
The second session on Success Stories of Change Management will be chaired by Dr. Nazily Mohd Noor – CEO of MIM. The speakers are Surani Amerasinghe, Director HR of Ceylon Tobacco Co. Plc, Kithsiri Gunawardena – COO and Chief Legal Officer of LOLC Group, Mangala P.B. Yapa – MD/CEO of Colombo Dockyard, and Prasanna de Silva – MD of Hayleys Exports Plc.
The Certified Professional Manager (CPM) is a Professional Management Programme and is an initiative of CMA Sri Lanka. Begun in 2009, CPM presently has 1200 Members.
