Ahlaam Malik, a student of Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), the lucky winner of the world prize for Analysis and Decision Making (A&D) at the recently held CIM examination m got the opportunity of going across to Singapore on a foreign training course.
“The entire cost of the trip was borne by SLIM as part of its promotional programme to induce students to perform well at the marketing examinations,” SLIM President Thushara Perera said.
“Attending the annual Sales & Marketing Congress that was held in Singapore was a dream come true. It was a fantastic programme and it enlightened my knowledge and thinking to greater heights,” said Malik. “I enjoyed the trip very much.”
Thanking SLIM for providing him the opportunity, he added that such sponsorships recognising the talent of outstanding students was indeed a great motivation for all students.
“While wishing success to SLIM for its future endeavours, I am proud to be a part of this great institution and would be so in the future as well,” he said.
SLIM announced the ‘SLIM Challenge’ programme to attract students for the CIM examination in advance, prompting them to do well and win a trip to Singapore. Students who followed the CIM course at SLIM were eligible.
Such programmes are planned in keeping with SLIM’s policy of selecting projects that will help marketing students and professionals to improve and enhance their knowledge base. As the national institute of marketing in Sri Lanka, SLIM has been promoting marketing excellence and elevating the status of marketing in the country since 1970. Incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1980, SLIM is a member of the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka and of ESOMAR, the Federation of Marketing Research Industries.
It is also a member of the Asia Marketing Federation, which is affiliated to the World Marketing Association.
