Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) keeps abreast of the goings-on in the marketing world by constantly updating knowledge, participating at gatherings and meeting professionals.
SLIM representatives recently attended the meeting of the Asia Marketing Federation (AMF) Board of Management held in Seoul and just prior to that meeting, SLIM was present at the National Sales and Marketing Congress 2011 held in Singapore.
“These are learning exercises and we, at SLIM greatly benefit through participation at events like these,” SLIM President Thushara Perera said.
Referring to the AMF meeting, he said that the highlight was the special lecture delivered by Prof. Mitsuaki Shimaguchi on ‘Secrets of Enterprise Growing – Japanese Experience and Implication to Asia.’
SLIM is a member of the AMF which is affiliated to the World Marketing Association and has greatly benefited over the years particularly in the sphere of marketing education.
The AMF has been in existence since 1991 and its objective is furthering economic development in Asia through regional co-operation in information exchange on new marketing concepts and experience, technologies and research.
Members of the AMF currently comprise the national marketing associations (NMAs) of Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, Mongolia,Korea and Singapore. The AMF education headquarters is based in Singapore.
SLIM delegation to the meeting comprised President Thushara Perera – Immediate Past President – Rohan Somawansa, Vice Presidents Tilan Wijeyesekera and Gamika de Silva and past presidents – R M.P Dayawansa and Saliya Weerasekera who were representing AMF in their capacity as AMF officials.
A four-member delegation attended the National Sales and Marketing Congress 2011 in Singapore. They were Thushara Perera – President, Rohan Somawansa – Immediate Past President, Kalana Ratnayake – Secretary to the Council and Samantha Ratnayake – Head of Education from the Secretariat.
