The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), the national body for marketing in Sri Lanka, recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Jayasekera Management Centre (JMC) aiming at expanding quality marketing education in the country. The signing of the MOU took place at the SLIM Head Office in Colombo.
Accordingly, JMC will conduct the Preliminary Certificate in Marketing (PCM) and the MIS (Marketing in Sinhala) programs at their branches as an Accredited Study Centre of SLIM. JMC which has branches island-wide is known as an education institute which provides quality education for those who wish to obtain academic and professional qualifications.
With this initiative the opportunities available for those who are interested in marketing to obtain a professional qualification will be expanded. With professional qualifications such as Preliminary Certificate in Marketing (PCM) and MIS (Marketing in Sinhala), an individual would receive great recognition in the field of marketing and would be able to perform their tasks well.
Commenting on this important and timely initiative, SLIM President Ruwan Liyanagamage said that it is important to expand the availability of quality marketing studies due to the increasing demand for qualified marketers.
“When the business sector expands, the marketing section of companies too expands. When there is more demand for marketers people tend to obtain marketing qualifications from anywhere. We need to ensure that quality marketing studies are available for those who seek such qualifications. That is why we decided to join hands with JMC and provide more opportunities for the public to follow programs such as PCM and MIS,” he added.
Liyanagamage further noted that SLIM decided to select JMC as an educational institute to join hands with due to the recognition JMC has gained to the quality of professional education they have provided for decades.
Commenting on this MOU, JMC Managing Director J.M.U.B. Jayasekera said they are absolutely delighted to join hands with SLIM and expanding the scope of quality marketing studies adding that many of those who are interested in studying marketing would benefit through this affiliation.
“JMC has been providing professional education over the decades. Through signing this MOU not only the JMC and SLIM, but also students would also benefit. We have a large student base and this affiliation will certainly help to expand the marketing education,” added Jayasekera.
The two marketing programs to be conducted at JMC countrywide, PCM and MIS are widely popular amongst marketing students as both these programs assist them in learning the philosophy of marketing management and the marketing fundamentals in a simple manner.
