The inauguration of the SLIM Preliminary Certificate in Marketing (PCM) program was held recently at SLIM premises and the fresh intake is now on. PCM is the ideal course for budding marketers as it opens doors for young and aspiring executives and school leavers to venture into the fascinating yet philosophical world of marketing.
The very basics of marketing that shed light on more advanced aspects such as the four Ps in marketing or the marketing mix, relationship marketing, stakeholder marketing, marketing orientation and sales orientation is in the curriculum. Students will also be provided with the knowledge as regards to the Sri Lankan context in marketing and sales which are vital aspects.
The large gathering at the inauguration comprised with young executives, school leavers and young people who work in different fields who aspire to better their lifestyles with the knowledge in marketing.
The occasion was also graced by SLIM CEO/Executive Director Sanath Senanayake, Chairman, Board of Study and Senior Lecturer G.S. Sylvester along with senior management of SLIM.
SLIM President Ruwan Liyanagamage expressed his views towards the global context. He said marketers around the world do wonders with regard to innovations and Sri Lankans have the potential to rub shoulders with them.
“Enthusiasm shown by Sri Lankan youngsters towards learning marketing is tremendous and they have the potential too. SLIM is the right place for them to start their marketing studies. SLIM is also affiliated with world renowned marketing bodies. Some leading Sri Lankan marketers who have been SLIM students are now employed in numerous local and multinational organisations. This is sheer proof for the credibility of SLIM programs,” said the SLIM President.
SLIM CEO/Executive Director Sanath Senanayake spoke on the SLIM programs and the quality that is maintained by SLIM benchmarking with world teaching standards.
“Adaptability and standardisation aspects of products and services practiced by the marketing fraternity around the world could be also applicable for an institute. SLIM’s area of expertise is its ability to groom marketers to suit both Sri Lankan and global contexts,” said the CEO/ED.
Senanayake added: “Professional career path led by PCM will open new vistas in an individual’s thinking pattern exposing him/her to a whole new world of marketing. PCM will also bestow you with practical aspects of marketing and secure a career path with the highest growth rate. PCM is the shortest route to an MBA.”
