The Certified Professional Marketer (Asia) program offered by Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) has received an emphatic endorsement from Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS) President Roger Wang.
The CPM (Asia) status is conferred by the Asia Marketing Federation (AMF), the foremost governing body for marketing in Asia. It has long been the preferred postgraduate professional status for marketers in over 15 Asian countries, including economic powers such as China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia.
In his endorsement Wang touched on the importance of CPM for professional growth.
“Anyone can claim to be a marketer but being a CPM (Asia) certified professional sets you apart from the rest. CPM (Asia) is the industry’s testimony and scholarly endorsement for marketers who have attained a competent level of academic and practical understanding of marketing in the Asian region. With this certification, you will be ahead of the game and equipped with the specialised and in-depth knowledge of the best marketing practices for the Asian business environment.”
The CPM (Asia) status opens up networking opportunities with over 1000 marketers in over 15 Asian countries through a prestigious pan-Asian CPM Society. Furthermore, AMF has updated the curriculum to reflect developments around the world in addition to Asian topics. Hence, CPM is no longer limited to the Asian region, and is a professional passport to the world.
Mr. Wang elaborated on the recognition enjoyed by CPM (Asia) certified marketers.
“This certification brings industry recognition and authentication as it announces your extensive experience and vindicates your advocacy in the marketing profession. With your CPM (Asia) designation on your business card, you will be recognised as a marketer with top marketing skills and respected for your wisdom as a true-blue Asian marketer. I urge you all to sign up with SLIM, the national body for marketing in Sri Lanka.”
The structure and contents of CPM (Asia) are designed to develop leaders, as evidenced by the achievements of Sri Lankan CPM holders. Among them are Global Tech Services Managing Director/CEO and AMF Past Secretary General W.S.K. Mallikarachchi, and DSI Samson Group General Manager – Sales and Marketing and AMF Vice President Rohan Somawansa and Derana Group Director – Sales and Marketing Thushara Perera.
The program covers Marketing Research, Marketing Communications, Marketing Strategy, and the two compulsory subjects of Asia Business and Asia Marketing Management. It examines the wider implications of the rapidly changing economic, political, socio-cultural and technological environments of regional economies, how they impact businesses and how businesses react to these opportunities and challenges.
SLIM is the only institute which offers marketers in Sri Lanka the opportunity to obtain this prestigious professional status. The delivery of the programme is kept on par with international standards and the facilities and lecturers made available match those in developed Asian nations. The duration of the program is a mere three months, and the lectures are conducted in the afternoon on weekends and after work hours on weekdays in order to make it accessible to professionals.
SLIM is the national body for marketing and offers the most sought after proprietary postgraduate and diploma programmes in the fields of marketing and sales. The SLIM calendar includes premier annual events such as SLIM Brand Excellence, Effie Awards, People’s Choice Awards and NASCO. SLIM is a member of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA) and Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL).
Internationally it is affiliated with ESOMAR, the Federation of Marketing Research Industries and is a member of the Asia Marketing Federation, which is affiliated to the World Marketing Association.
