SLIM Brand Excellence recently announced the beginning of the 15th consecutive SLIM Brand Excellence Awards campaign.
Based on the tag line, “Excellence is an Obsession”, the campaign kicked off on 15 June and ends in November with an award ceremony at the BMICH. The final closing date for entries will be 20 July, and special workshops will be held during the 3rd and 4th weeks of June, for the education of the participant.
“For the past fifteen years SLIM Brand Excellence has been a platform for all brands, local and international, to gain recognition and status in Sri Lanka. The objective of the campaign is to encourage development in the marketing industry, thereby helping to strengthen the backbone of the country’s economic future,” stated SLIM President Upul Adikari. Participants are able to compete in 13 different categories namely main awards; Product Brand of the Year and Service Brand of the Year and the Special Category Awards; Innovative Brand of the Year, Turn-a-Round Brand of the Year, Local Brand of the Year, Best New Entrant of the Year, International Brand of the Year, SME Brand of the Year, CSR Brand of the Year, Export Brand of the Year, B2B Brand of the Year, Regional Brand Recognition Award and Online Brand of the Year, where 80% of the brands’ revenue needs to be attributed to online business transactions, which was introduced last year.
Aside from the 13 awards categories, the Brand of the Year award will be presented to the Brand with the ‘highest score of points’ gained from the sub categories of the awards. There will no separate entry for this award and the winner of this award will not be selected by the judges but will receive it based on the total aggregate of the points received.
This year’s panel of judges which consists of a number of experienced professionals in the marketing industry, which will be headed by Softlogic Retail Ltd CEO Nasser Majeed. Contestants will be judged on the aspects of Brand Intent, Brand Content, Brand Process and Brand Performance.

I would like to invite all the brands and brand custodians who are obsessed with excellence, to join us and be a part of the SLIM Brand Excellence Awards 2016” said SLIM Brand Excellence Project Chairman Lakshitha Wijesinghe.
