Redefining marketing education

Unilever assists the Department of Marketing Management of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in creating a new generation of ‘complete’ marketers.     When education is being traded as a commodity and qualifications can be literally bought off the market, quality remains the single distinguishing factor that separates the best from the rest. Emphasising on its commitment towards delivering graduates who are of the best quality to the world, the Department of Marketing Management of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura has never been hesitant in embracing innovation and in leading change. In this journey towards constantly achieving and maintaining perfection, the department has managed to incorporate concepts that would develop the undergraduates in all levels, knowledge, skills and attitudes, and has initiated a range of programs that take a 360 degree approach in development. From the annual Personality and Skill Development program conducted in collaboration with Diyathalawa Military Academy that emphasises on the need to maintain physical and mental fitness, to the Vibes of Marketing that showcases the aesthetic talents of the students, and Imminent Marketer which tests strategic application of marketing knowledge, these programs have been successful in enabling the development of students by exposing them to the real life application of class room theories. The department nurtures the growth of the undergraduates, perceived not as mere students but as the cream of the best, to be more capable and dynamic marketers. In its admirable commitment towards developing ‘complete’ individuals, the department has joined hands with the Unilever in the role of ‘Strategic Partners’ in Imminent Marketer. As a socially responsible company, the department applauds their passion in enabling the development of these individuals, and is delighted to go forth in a journey of continuous development of marketing undergraduates. With the aim of reaching greater heights by way of student development and as an entity that pioneers change, the Department of Marketing Management invites all stake holders to join hands in its quest towards greatness, and in redefining marketing education.
