Mindshare Sri Lanka, a member of the global Group M media agency network, was recognised and awarded for their innovative work in Sri Lanka at the recently concluded Goafest 2013.
Creating history, Mindshare’s win is the first time that a Sri Lankan media agency has won a prestigious Media Abby for a campaign carried out in Sri Lanka.
Mindshare’s Team Unilever won the Abby for Best use of Mixed Media (Rest of South Asia category) for their innovative use of digital media for the launch of Close Up toothpaste in Sri Lanka.
“This is a great start for us, where we get to prove that creative media planning can and does make a huge impact on campaigns,” said Mindshare Sri Lanka Leader Nigel Balakrishnan. “Unilever has always been a fearless pioneer in media and we are proud to accept this award from Goafest as the first of many. We are building strong competency and global partnerships in the digital area too and this award is a validation of this strategy,” he added.
Unilever Sri Lanka Communication Channel Manager Channa Tennakoon, recognising that this Abby was a great win for both Unilever and Mindshare, stated “All the blood and sweat which went into making the Close Up launch a reality has borne fruit.”
Goafest is the festival for anyone in South Asia involved in the creation of ideas, and is the venue for India’s premier awards which celebrate creativity – the Media Abby. Goafest 2013, held recently at the Zuri White Sands in Goa, drew over 650 entries from across South Asia. In all, 46 metals were given away: six Gold, 16 Silver and 24 Bronze Media Abbys.
“It’s great to be part of the most innovative media team in Sri Lanka,” said Team Unilever Director – Client Leadership Isuru Dias. “And it’s great to work with Unilever who are always encouraging ground breaking ideas and having faith in Mindshare to deliver them. This is just the start. The best is yet to come.”
