Citibank, Unilever Sri Lanka and Virtusa, have combined forces with the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) to successfully carry out the ‘International Summer Program’ (ISP) for the second continuous time as a channel of attracting bright, young, Sri Lankan talent to their organisations. This summer program is targeted at Sri Lankan students who are studying in universities abroad, and offered a structured, six-week program that allows them to gain hands-on experience at three premier corporates in Sri Lanka. The interns will also be involved in a fund raising initiative for a charity supported by AmCham, building on the commitment of all three companies to be responsible corporate citizens.
This year, the 14 individuals selected for this program were given the task to help raise funds to change the lives of school children in the Uva province by improving their sanitation facilities, water access and education
In order to raise funds for this worthy cause, the interns have organised a Cocktail and Auction fundraiser taking place at the Hilton Residences Colombo on 6 August from 7 p.m. onwards.
The auction itself has items worth attending including a cricket bat signed by the Sri Lankan Cricket team, a painting by the famous Shantha K. Herath as well as touching drawings done by the children of Mith Sevana School.
Live performances featuring the De Lanerolle brothers, Sheeam & Shamista Dean and several other acts will provide the entertainment for the evening.
The interns are also raising funds through crowd funding, any support that’s been given to improve the wellbeing of the students will be greatly appreciated. Please make your contribution using the following link: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-briefcase-project#/story.
Main sponsor of the event is The Central Hospital and co sponsor is Cargills Ceylon Plc.
