Mindshare Sri Lanka, a fully owned subsidiary of the GroupM network walked away with four awards at the recently-concluded Effie Awards held in Colombo, while sister company Maxus bagged a finalist award. Mindshare was awarded finalist awards for their outstanding work on Pears and Lifebuoy, with a bronze award for their work on Domex. Additionally, Maxus received a finalist award for excellent work done on the CEAT ‘Where have you been lately?’ campaign. Speaking on the significance of the win, Jhumka Saha, Leader Mindshare Sri Lanka explained, “We are proud of the recognition the Effies have brought to the hard work, strategic thinking and partnerships behind the brand communication planning framework. Mindshare’s win for Unilever brands Pears and Lifebuoy in categories like Renaissance and Personal Care as Finalists endorses our belief that Client-Agency partnership is the key to create winning brands. Unilever Sri Lanka’s win as the Marketer of the Year also proves the same belief. As a team we accept hard challenges and we feel the exhilaration of the victory as well.” Globally, the Effie Awards stand for effectiveness in marketing communication. They aim to shine a spotlight on ideas that work and encourage dialogue about the drivers of marketing communications effectiveness. By working with the top research and media organizations in the world, the Effies bring its audience relevant, first-class insights into what communication campaigns have worked best, then recognise the work. Since the competition’s inception in 1968, winning an Effie has become a global symbol of success in the advertising and communications industry. Speaking on the company and how winning an Effie impacts the motivation at Maxus, Alvin Gomesz, General Manager – Maxus Sri Lanka explained, “As an agency that ‘Leans into change’ we strive to do things differently. Maxus has always focused on the development of our team and the way we do work for our clients. Just under six years in Sri Lanka under the guidance of GroupM, we have been quite successful in having a winning streak at the Effies. Maxus was ranked third in the 2013 Effie Index, which is quite an achievement for a young and nimble agency, such as ours. I take this opportunity to thank all our clients who leaned into change with us and continuously push us to question the status quo and do great work which gives their Brands great results.”
