The creative duo from Grant McCann Erickson will represent Sri Lanka at the prestigious ‘Young Lotus’ creative competition to be held at Adfest Pattaya in March this year. Grant McCann Erickson’s Tara Weerasinghe and Sahil Gunesekere came out on top at the recently concluded Young Lotus contest organised by the 4A’s of Sri Lanka, earning them the honour of representing the island at Adfest. Meanwhile, Response Marketing’s Shazad Synon and Sailesh Gunesekere secured third place at the Sri Lankan leg of Young Lotus, where 17 teams vied for the chance to represent the country at the Asian competition. The judging panel this year consisted of some of Sri Lanka’s best creative minds Ransley Burrows Creative Director Ogilvy Advertising, Rajiv Wirasinha Partner/Executive Creative Director Heensare, Russell Miranda Executive Creative Director Grant McCann Erickson, Dilshara Jayamanna ECD Lowe and Sithum Walter Creative Group Head Leo Burnett and a previous Adfest International Winner. The local contest was organised by the 4A’s Sri Lanka. The ‘Young Lotus’ competition hosted annually, celebrates the best young creative talent in Asia. The Young Lotus Workshop is one of ADFEST’s initiatives to nurture, recognise, and encourage the young talents in the advertising and creative community in the Asia Pacific region.  It is a two-and-a-half day workshop where young creative teams of two from about 15 cities gather to learn from creative leaders from all over the world, while also meeting new colleagues and also learning from them. Each year, the Young Lotus Workshop is run by an agency network who brings in their creative gurus to teach and share their expert insights with the up-and-coming young creatives. After a day-and-a-half workshop, the young participants will be given a brief by the host agency, for which they have 24-hour to come up with their ideas and present their works to the brief.
