Notching an unparalleled milestone of 25 years in Sri Lanka, Event Productions Ltd. (EPPL), the oldest event company in the country, has traversed a journey that has surely shaped the event production space in the country.
With an expansive client portfolio numbering over 4,500 events both in Sri Lanka and overseas, the company itself takes credence from its Managing Director Roshan Wijeyaratne, who holds a record of 35 years in managing and producing events from the time he was a DJ under the legendary Gabo Pieris.
With an inherent entrepreneurial spirit leading him to launch EPPL, this pioneering company has evolved into producing every conceivable event concept that its discerning clientele demands. “From fashion shows to product launches, media conferences to gala dinners, concerts, dinner dances, workshops and conferences, our ability to present total event solutions whether for an intimate number of 30 or a mammoth 10,000 is what gives us the competitive edge,” explained Wijeyaratne, speaking to the media.
He added that the company now has an impressive range of international and global giants seeking its expertise, all of who have commended the company on its conceptualisation, absolute professionalism and attention to detail.
From Dilmah Tea, Standard Chartered Bank, John Keells, Hayleys, Hemas, NTB, Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. and DIMO in Sri Lanka to international clients such as Coca-Cola SABCO (South Africa), General Motors, TATA Steel, HSBC India and Sri Lanka, Johnson & Johnson India, Axis Bank India, Birla 3M India, Cairn India, DHL India and Sri Lanka, HERO India, Harman India, JK Tyre India and Jindal Steel India, the customer satisfaction is very apparent as some repeatedly work with EPPL. In fact, evidencing the success of the Coke SABCO Conference in Colombo, EPPL handled the conference in Nepal and coordinated two Indian films shot on location in Sri Lanka for Bonny Kapoor.
Roshan has also handled the concerts for some Grammy winning artistes on their Asian tours, producing the concert in Colombo for Michael Bolton, Olivia Newton John, Richard Clyderman, Mary Wilson of the Supremes and the Party in the Park with Kool & the Gang and Earth, Wind & Fire with Al McKay. Most recently, the company executed a series of events for Michelin Star Chef Marco Pierre White who visited Colombo.
“Providing complete solutions from A to Z is our specialty,” stated Wijeyaratne, a lecturer for the Diploma in Event Management and has conducted event management workshops for SLIM, SLT and Hemas. “We own all our equipment which means we give 100% reliability on quality and have no dependence on external suppliers. From stage sets, lights, sound, AV and LED screens, concept, design, consultation and coordination of total venue arrangements and even managing multiple venues at the same time, our highly trained team of 30+, excel in doing just that.”
The company has its own creative department to aid quick turnaround of concepts and its own workshop to execute the complex creative ideas, aided by its own fleet of vehicles which ensures a streamlined logistics process with no interruptions or breakdowns.
Director Rayush Wijeyaratne who together with his father Roshan, are at times both involved personally from the planning stage, to implementation and execution, states that it is this personalised service that has seen EPPL gain a surfeit of repeat clients.
“We are not an equipment rental company, but rather, we pride ourselves on the A to Z execution and excellence in everything we do,” says Rayush who intends to venture into newer horizons in the Company’s next growth phase. “Whether in collating total solutions for small workshops and conferences or the larger international global conventions that Sri Lanka is now gaining popularity for, we believe we can add immense value in creativity, concepts, implementation and total execution to ensure the perfect event.”
