CIM Sri Lanka Region creates history

The Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region, created history once again by achieving a 57.37% pass rate, at the examination held in June 2011.

As per the results that were released on the 22 August 2011, Sri Lanka has been placed second in the world, surpassing Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Ghana and Kenya; with UK topping the list at the number one position.  

Anuradha Edirisinghe Head of Education, CIM Sri Lanka Region stated, “Our pass rates have grown steadily in the past years and we are proud of this latest achievement. This is of significant importance, especially with the Sri Lanka Region producing five World Prize Winners this year”. Further, he mentioned that “the current syllabus is formulated to build competencies in our students’ to meet the dynamic changes in business and enterprise. It focuses more on assignments, which are designed to groom the graduate into being a professional marketer. The progress of these assignments is closely monitored by the tutor and gives students an opportunity to develop strategies relevant to Sri Lanka. Earning a pass rate of 57.37% for the Sri Lanka Region has proved the competency of our students and the commitment of the tutors who provide them with individual attention”.  

The Sri Lanka Region achieved higher pass rates in subjects such as Marketing Information and Research, Stakeholder Marketing, Marketing Planning Process, Project Management in Marketing and Managing Corporate Reputation.

The Chairperson of The CIM Sri Lanka Region, Chitrangani Herat Gunaratne, commenting on the results said, “These results showcase the standard of our students competing in an international arena, where language would have been the main barrier in achieving phenomenal results. Our students have proved to the rest of the world, what Sri Lankans are capable of, by being second only to UK. I look forward to the day that we can be on par with them. Credit should also go to all the tutors who work tirelessly along with the students, in order to ensure that they complete the course speedily.  With this higher pass rate and the many World Prize Winners that we have produced, we can proudly claim that Sri Lanka will be showcased as an example to the rest of the world.”

Speaking further, she mentioned “the CIM Sri Lanka Regional office works closely with the Accredited Study Centres and our dedicated staff is always ready to assist the students on any issue they may have. We are confident that we can look forward to even better results and more prize winners in the future”.
