Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 19 countries across Asia and Africa, this week announced that its ‘Haté Kathawa’ campaign in Sri Lanka has bagged the Silver award at the extremely prestigious Effie Awards 2011 held in Colombo.
Airtel Lanka was the only brand to be ranked as a winner in the telecommunications services industry. Commenting on the occasion, Charith de Chickera, Head – Brand & Communications, Airtel Lanka said, “Airtel’s ‘Haté Kathawa’ campaign reinforces our brand’s focus on offering services that are innovative, affordable and relevant for the discerning mobile customer in Sri Lanka. We are thrilled that this idea and creative insight has resonated well with our youthful and ‘young-at-heart’ audience in the masses.” “Bagging a Silver at the prestigious Effies this year is an exciting acknowledgement of the success brand Airtel achieved through this campaign – and we look forward to creating many more of such opportunities to strike a chord with our customers in Sri Lanka,” he added.
Launched in mid April 2011 with a promising online campaign on Facebook and YouTube, the media plan for Airtel’s ‘Haté Kathawa’ campaign further expanded to communication on TV, radio, print and outdoor. This was supported by BTL activities to drive the message at a trade level.
