A truly Sri Lankan agency Triad recently won coveted Silver and Bronze awards at Spikes Asia 2019 for its Life Chant campaign, launched in partnership with the Public Health Department of the Colombo Municipal Council.
Life Chant won a Silver award in the Radio category and a Bronze award in the Healthcare segment. The winning entry, ‘Life Chant’ is a stanza written, recited and recorded by Buddhist monks to educate those living in slum areas about dengue mosquito breeding spots and the need for community effort in eradicating these. These educational chants were played on loudspeakers at temples and shrines, directly spreading the message to the community; it was also aired on radio early in the morning and late in the evening, the times when dengue mosquitoes are most active.
Spikes Asia is the coming together of Asia Pacific’s creative community to celebrate excellence in creative communications. This year’s celebration was held in Suntec, Singapore, from 25 to 27 September.
The event is renowned for its progressive seminars host by influential figures looking at the future of the creative industry. Supported by the C4As, it is also a networking goldmine, complete with training sessions and exhibitions featuring some of the region’s best creative work.
Taking the lead on the Life Chant campaign, Triad Director of Brands Shehan Samarasinha was also invited to be a part of the CMO Growth Council, a roundtable led by CMOs from the world’s largest brands with the aim to drive growth of the industry, which conducted its first APAC Growth Council roundtable at Spikes Asia 2019.
Commenting at the event, he said, “As the only 100% Sri Lankan communications company, we are thrilled with this recognition at a prestigious international award show. We are determined to continue showcasing our cutting-edge creative ideas on a global platform. We are grateful to all the amazing local and global professionals of the industry who guided and supported us in this gigantic task. We also thank our client, the Municipal Council of Colombo, for believing in the efficacy of our campaign, which we are hoping to continue this year too. With this victory, we are fully pumped up and will definitely come back for more next year.”
Commenting on the win, Triad Jt. Managing Director Varuni Fernando said, “We are happy and proud to bring glory to Sri Lanka by showcasing truly local insight-based ideas on a global platform.
Through 25 years, we’ve never shied away from redefining the rules or challenging convention. We believe our inclusive API culture creates a fertile ground for new age thinking and a forever-young spirit. Triad is all about people, and winning gives us the momentum to celebrate while we work, play and live.”
Triad was also recently awarded a coveted Silver award for its Life Chant campaign at AD STARS Awards 2019. Locally too, the agency was once again recognised by LMD as Sri Lanka’s most respected advertising agency, in its Most Respected Entities listing for 2019.
