Teams Phoenix Ogilvy and CDB with the Gold Effie in the ‘Finance’ category
Phoenix Ogilvy’s campaign for CDB’s ‘patpat.lk’ e-commerce platform won Gold in the ‘Finance’ category at the Effie Awards Sri Lanka 2019, held on 30 August, with the Phoenix Ogilvy Group winning four metals in total.
Ogilvy conceptualised and implemented the campaign to launch CDB’s revolutionary ‘patpat.lk’ online platform, which, for the first time in the market, enables customers to easily buy, sell and lease or finance any type of vehicle within 15 minutes. The platform’s most unique feature is that it allows users to search for vehicles based on the monthly instalment they are comfortable paying. Commenting on the Gold Effie, CDB Deputy General Manager – Marketing Darshana Jayasinghe said: “This is the first time CDB has been honoured with a Gold at the Effie Awards. ‘patpat.lk’ is a one-of-a-kind platform that has transformed the market and changed how potential customers find vehicles best suited for their means, and the communications campaign can also be attributed to its success thus far. We are elated that the campaign produced by Ogilvy has been recognised by the communications and marketing fraternity.”
Phoenix Ogilvy Chief Executive Creative Officer Rajiv R. Menon noted that: “Winning an Effie Gold is happiness always. But when it’s won for a NBFI (Non-Banking Financial Institute), I feel the metal shines even brighter as product differentiation is not always distinctive in this category, and that pushes the agency to ideate disruptively to convert consumers. I’m especially delighted that we helped CDB win their first-ever Effie Gold.”
The Ogilvy Group netted three more metals at this year’s awards, with Neo@Ogilvy winning a Silver Effie for its ‘Politically Incorrect Biscuits’ campaign for Maliban Biscuits in the ‘Snacks & Desserts’ category, and Ogilvy Media winning a Bronze in the ‘Finance’ category for its ‘The freedom of your own home’ campaign, and a Finalist award for its ‘Leasing Vaare’ campaign in the ‘Sustained Success’ category, both for Commercial Bank.
