Media Services, the publisher of leading business magazine LMD, announced yesterday that the 2018 special edition of the Brands Annual has been released to supermarkets and bookstores across the island.
The all-encompassing special issue features Sri Lanka’s most valuable brands, ‘most loved brands’ in the country, and leaders in other categories such as conglomerates, exporters and e-commerce. Brand values will also be included in the conglomerates listing for the first time, emphasising operational differences from consumer brands.
Compiled by Brand Finance for the 15th year, the top 10 amongst the most valuable consumer brands include familiar names such as BOC, Dialog, People’s Bank and Commercial Bank. BOC helms the list as Sri Lanka’s most valuable brand – it is valued at nearly Rs. 42.9 billion with a rating of ‘AA.’
The most loved brands in the country include Dettol, Panadol and Sunlight, while John Keells Holdings and LOLC are among the leading conglomerate brands.
Brand Finance’s review of the most valuable consumer brands notes: “The total value of Sri Lanka’s most valuable consumer brands increased by 14% in 2018 compared to 2017 whilst reaching a landmark combined brand value of Rs. 0.5 trillion.”
