The Institute of Applied Statistics Sri Lanka (IASSL) has come to a collaboration partnership with Survey Research Lanka Ltd. (SRL) to introduce analytical models for the benefit of the research industry in Sri Lanka.
IASSL was incorporated by the Parliament of Sri Lanka on 20 September 2011 by the Institute of Applied Statistics, Sri Lanka (Incorporation) Act No. 38 of 2011. This is the successor of the former Applied Statistics Association Sri Lanka (ASASL) established in 1999. IASSL is a member of the Organization of Professional Associations (OPA) of Sri Lanka. One of the objectives of the institute is to co-operate with governmental and non-governmental organisations and national and international institutes engaged in work related to statistics to promote research, development, education, training, and extension.
SRL has been a pioneer in market, media and social research and was established in September 1989, thereby fulfilling a long-felt need for a totally independent, full-service media, marketing and social research consultancy in Sri Lanka. SRL has emerged as the most innovative, market-driven and IT-driven company of its kind and being a pioneer in establishing a near real-time consumer behaviour capturing and reporting for critical strategic and policy decisions by many local and international research insight users. SRL is possibly the only research company in the country that provides online interactive services. One of the corporate objectives of SRL is to provide sound analysis of carefully collected data by its team to transform passive data to more actionable information.
The aim of collaboration between IASSL and SRL is considered as an important turning point in the industry that will elevate the significance of research in decision making by progressive organisations in the country.
Joining the occasion, the IASSL President Dr. Chitraka Wickramarachchi stated that the partnership between IASSL and SRL would be a great initiation to promote and assist the advancement of applied statistics for furtherance of research in the country and hence more pragmatic decisions can be taken for companies using outputs of such analytical models.
