The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka announced the appointment of the board for 2017/2018, at the 22nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Colombo last week.
On’ally Holdings Plc Managing Director Brian Selvanayagam will continue his tenure as the Chairman of CIM Sri Lanka.
The Honorary President Asanga Ranasinghe chaired the AGM and invited the Chairman Brian Selvanayagam to present the annual review of activities for the year 2016/2017.
“Despite the intense competition in the education industry, CIM has been able to remain relevant and visible in a competitive market and has positioned itself as a preferred choice for professional marketing education,” Selvanayagam said.
He said the institute has maintained the student admission numbers at an increasing rate through the collective efforts of the Board and staff of CIM Sri Lanka, and its Accredited Study Centre partner network.
“We are pleased to expand our reach by opening a new Accredited Study Centre in Jaffna,” he added. It was pointed out that the strategic alliances with corporate entities and professional bodies initiated during 2016/2017 helped to promote CIM among a wider audience, where it helped to build a favourable perception of CIM among the business community in Sri Lanka. He said 2,797 exams were conducted during the year which was a marginal growth over last year.
“As we review our activities during the financial year 2016/2017, we can proudly claim that we have been able to provide visibility of the profession and have made significant strides to support Marketing Education and Professional Membership throughout the year. As we move forward with our goal in achieving excellence by providing quality marketing education and strengthening the marketing fraternity in Sri Lanka, amidst a challenging environment,” he stressed. He also commended the dedication and commitment of all members, partners, accredited study centres, tutors to make 2016/2017 a memorable one.
“I thank the membership of CIM Sri Lanka for your trust and confidence placed in me and the Board and invite members to engage and support the CIM Sri Lanka during the ensuing year,” Selvanayagam added.
The members of the Board for 2017/2018 include Brian Selvanayagam (Chairman), Amal Fernando (Vice Chairman), Sanjika Perera (Immediate Past Chair), Sujith Silva, Sumudu Thanthirigoda, Charaka Perera, Roshan Kaluarachchi, Rajiv David, Muditha Hewawanitunga, Kanchana Karunagama and Tharmalingam Dinesh.
CIM Sri Lanka is the first international branch of CIM comprising the largest number of members, both professional and students of CIM outside the UK. The regional institute has always campaigned for greater recognition and excellence in the marketing profession in Sri Lanka, through education, training and professional development.
