The Management Club Senior Vice President Murali Prakash assumed duties as the Group Managing Director/CEO of Taprobane Holdings PLC and Lanka Century Investments PLC with effect from 1 June.
Taprobane Holdings PLC is engaged in a diverse array of financial services and investments whilst also the ultimate parent of Lanka Century Investments. The group consists of five public quoted companies and several other private companies under its wings.
Lanka Century Investments PLC is the holding company of several well known brands and businesses in Sri Lanka apart from its controlling interests in well known entities, Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC, Ceylon Leather Products PLC, Colombo City Holdings PLC and South Asia Textiles and Industries Lanka Ltd. being the main stays amongst them.
Murali, a well-known corporate personality and is known for his successful tenures at some of the best known organisations in Sri Lanka including Singer Sri lank PLC and Brown and Company PLC. He has successfully reengineered several businesses/entities and has experience and exposure in over a wide array of industries/business sectors, including retailing, manufacturing, financial services, trading and investments, expanding from consumer durables to FMCG, lubricants, power generation equipment, veterinary pharmaceuticals, to areas such as sugar plantations/manufacturing and leisure amongst many other.
He has held several prominent positions such as Sales Director – Singer Sri Lanka PLC to Group MD/CEO – Browns, Chairman – Galoya Holdings and as Executive Director – Laugfs Holdings.
He holds an MBA (Aust.) and a Fellow of Chartered Management Institute UK. He is also a Certified Management Accountant (Aust.), Certified Professional Marketer (A-Pac) and an alumnus of National University of Singapore and Asian Institute of Management, Manila. Murali currently also serves as a Vice President of the Management Club of Sri Lanka, President CMA Australia Sri Lanka Branch and Vice President of the Chartered management Institute UK, Sri Lanka branch. He is also currently a Director at Laugfs Holdings Ltd., Laugfs Gas PLC and several others within the Laugfs Group of Companies apart from his new role.
