The 11th Annual General Meeting of the Management Club of Colombo was held on 25 November 2014 at the Galadari Hotel Colombo, amidst a large gathering of Management Club members. Chairman of the Club 2014 Ninesh Amirthiah was re-elected as the Chairman of the Club for the year 2015. In his outgoing speech, he thanked all the members of the executive committee of the club and the members of the Board of Management for all the support given to him during his year. The Outgoing Chairman expressed his appreciation to President Emeritus Fayaz Saleem and immediate Past Chairman Shan Hassan for all the support and guidance throughout the year. In his acceptance speech the Chairman mentioned that the club has drafted an exciting plan of event for the year 2015, with many Management Development Programs, Management evenings and networking events. Addressing the gathering he mentioned that he would work with the new committee as one team, showing respect for each other and help each other to achieve one common objective. He also went on to say that every member of the Executive committee should feel honoured to be serving the Management Club of Colombo. He also said that commitment and time management were two key components when serving in an organisation like the Management Club. The new committee for the year 2015 was elected. The following members were elected to serve in the Executive Committee of the Management Club of Colombo for the year 2015. Charmaine Vanderhoeven renominated as ETD President Enable the Disabled held their Annual General Meeting on 25 November 2014. Charmaine Vanderhoeven was renominated as President along with the Executive Committee. Charmaine in her address firstly thanked the first Members of the Board Fayaz Saleem, Gamini Karunaratrne, Sunil Deheragoda, Ajith De silva and in absentia Anton Hendrick for their unstinting support to ETD, from its inception and for continuing to support ETD in all its activities. Reviewing the activities for the year under review 2013, she commented that it was a very eventful year and several major projects like ‘Dirijaya Prathiba’, ‘Hope’ a project on autism and how early intervention is essential to make these kids learn to move in society inspite of their differences, for which an expert Nathan from Singapore was brought down to hold these workshops and they arranged a day out at the Art Loft for down syndrome kids to express themselves through art an song. She thanked the project chairperson Jazaayar Hassendeen, who was instrumental in organising these programs which brought credit to ETD, She welcomed the new committee who took over office for the ensuing year and she looks forward to a very eventful and meaningful year for ETD and to the continued support of all ETD members from within the TMC and out. Chandika Dedigama – Ex Committee Member Nasser Majeed nominated as TMC President The Board of Management of The Management Club held its AGM on 25 November at the Galadari Hotel at 5:30 p.m. The Board of Management is the advisory body of the TMC, which constitutes senior members of the Management Club, led by a President whose term is limited to three years, having representatives of the four clubs, Enable the Disabled (CSR Initiative) and the Chartered Management Institute UK. Nasser Majeed was nominated to the post of President, whilst the Vice President roles of Administration and Treasury continued to remain in the hands of Senaka Abeykoon and Arkantha Pandithasekera. The outgoing President Deepal Abeysekera thanked all the members of the BOM for the support and corporation they extended to him during his tenure. He said that he was proud and extremely happy to have provided leadership to such an exclusive club. He said that the Club went through some good and difficult times, like the move from Galle Face Hotel to Excel World and then to Galadari Hotel. He also paid special tribute to President Emeritus Fayaz Saleem and Past President Athula Jayasekera for their advice and guidance during his presidency. Nasser Majeed in his brief address thanked the BOM for nominating him to the prestigious post of President and assured the members present that he will do his utmost to further strengthen The Management Club. The Board of Management members elected are: President Nasser Majeed, Immd Past President Deepal Abeysekera, President Emeritus Fayaz Saleem, Senaka Abeykoon, Arkantha Pandithasekera, Col. Faiz ur Rahman, Sunimal Weerasooriya, Murali Prakash, Athula Jayasekera and Charmaine Vanderhoeven. President Emeritus Fayaz Saleem thanked Deepal Abeysekera for his inspiring leadership provided inspite of his extreme pressures of work and all those who served in the BOM for their cooperation, very specially Charmaine Vanderhoven for her untiring dual roles at the BOM and as Chairperson ETD, Senaka Abeykoon and Arkantha Pandithasekera for the administration and treasury management. The AGM concluded at 6 p.m. TMC Mount Lavinia will hold their AGM on 8 December 2014, at the Berjaya Mount Royal Hotel. Presentation of Accounts for 2013 and the nomination of office bearers for the ensuing year will take place.
