IMG_1146 IMG_1147 IMG_1202 IMG_1204Shareholder-managers so often do not truly understand the different ‘hats’ that they wear within their own company – in particular the three ‘hats’ of shareholder, director and manager. Carl Bates recently challenged his audience to understand these different roles and the critical distinctions that must be applied, in order to succeed. It is through the understanding of this specific law that shareholders/managers commenced a journey to true business development, growth and extreme success.

This full day workshop addressing a restricted number of 50 directors from family owned companies was organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID). They were an enthusiastic gathering eager to learn how to ‘Achieve Extreme Business Success’ with Carl Bates.

Carl flew down from Johannesburg to conduct this workshop taking the participants on a journey to understand how to increase their skills, knowledge and ability of the Board of Directors empowering them to effectively fulfil their roles to overcome the risk of business failure. The participants gained an in-depth insight to a working and practical model that privately-held and family-held companies can use to implement governance effectively to support their business success.

Carl’s entertaining style vast business and directorship knowledge, and personal and family experiences delivered a powerful message – challenging the participants to shift their thinking, increase their vision and create sustainable value.

Carl is an entrepreneur, passionate about empowering business owners to break through the barriers that confine them to a life of long hours, hard work and little reward. He helped those present to transform their attitudes and practices, challenging them to create a business legacy they could be proud of. He focused on ensuring areas of growth were identified and shareholder value was maximised. His depth of understanding and insight inspired and motivated his audience that day.

He shared his failures and ‘learning cycles’ indicating what one should not do and how one should avoid making the same mistakes. His questions and insights enabled the audience to address the key problems and identify solutions that facilitated real change.

The Platinum sponsor of the workshop was HSBC Bank with Hemas Hospital coming in with the Bronze sponsorship. The Exclusive Print Media sponsor was the Daily FT and the Daily Mirror.
