Only Sri Lankan banker to give leadership to seven finance companies
Shirley Perera, the Founder President of the Management Club – Kalutara, is a banker by profession He has been working at the People’s Bank – International Division for 22 years. Having held several key positions, he resigned from the bank in 1987 as the Senior Manager – International Division, to accept an appointment in a finance company.
He started his career in the finance company sector as a Senior Asst. General Manager – Corporate Finance & Leasing at Mercantile Credit Ltd., led by the financial wizard late N.U. Jayawardena. After serving at Mercantile Credit Ltd. for five years he was invited to join the Board of Directors of LB Finance in 1992, in the capacity of Director (Credit).
An old boy of Royal College, Colombo, he is a Graduate in Public Administration from the Jayawardanapura University. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Bank Management from the Bankers Training Institute, which is considered as the highest professional qualification available to bankers in Sri Lanka. He was the first employee of Peoples Bank to successfully complete this Post Graduate Diploma.
He retired from the position of the Deputy Chairman of CIFL in October 2012, before the commencement of its present problems and incorporated three new companies on his own in the field of business solution and financial consultations.
