PUM Netherlands Senior Experts held a business meeting at Galle Face Hotel recently. The Ambassador of the Netherlands Louis W.M. Pieet, Deputy Head of the Mission Bas van Noordenne, PUM Country Coordinator Cees van Dijl, PUM Representatives S.P.C. Kumarasinghe and Bandula Hennedige along with 60 SMEs participated at the meeting.
PUM Netherlands Senior Experts have provided technical assistance to local industries since 1991, have assisted nearly 400 industries and have arranged nearly 100 training and business link visits to Netherlands for entrepreneurs from Sri Lanka.
Kumarasinghe welcomed the invitees and Ambassador Pieet in his speech stressed the advantages of cooperation between Dutch and Sri Lankan companies for the development of the economies of both countries.
Cees van Dijl explained about the services offered by PUM and made a PowerPoint presentation of work done in Sri Lanka. He also announced the appointment of the third representative P. Narasingham to cover Vavuniya and Jaffna area in the north.
Later van Dijl visited Vavuniya and Jaffna with Kumarasinghe and Narasingham. They had meetings with several industries in Vavuniya and a business meeting in Jaffna with 15 SMEs arranged by Narasingham. After the meeting on the next day they visited five SMEs, which could be assisted soon by PUM.
Kumarasinghe said the PUM assistance to north would bring a substantial boost to the developing economy in the north, in line with the policy of the Government of Sri Lanka.
