Prof. Senanayake assumes duties as University of Ruhuna’s new Vice Chancellor

The new Vice Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna, Senior Professor Gamini Senanayake has assumed his duties at the Vice Chancellor’s office, University of Ruhuna, Wellamadama, Matara. He is the sixth vice chancellor of the university and takes over from former Vice Chancellor Senior Professor Susirith Mendis.

An official ceremony chaired by the Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna Pallaththara Sumanajothi Nayaka Thero was conducted to symbolise the assuming of duties as the new vice chancellor at the Vice Chancellor’s office. Reverent Maha Sangha chanted pirith to bless the new vice chancellor. The new Vice Chancellor Senior Professor Gamini Senanayake assumed his duties in the presence of all the university staff and students. Thereafter, a meeting was held with the participation of former Vice Chancellor Senior Professor Susirith Mendis, the Registrar of the University Senani Kalugama, all deans and other academic and non academic staff members.

When addressing the gathering, the new vice chancellor stated that he is willing to continue the activities that have already been started by the former vice chancellor and that he would take several new steps to uplift the university in all aspects.
