Enable The Disabled will be conducting another unique program, a Vesak lantern competition called ‘Our Lantern Talks’. Selected homes for children with disabilities will be given an opportunity to enter this competition.

ETD will give each home an equal amount of funds to create their very own lantern. It will be a joint effort of the kids. A panel of judges will be identified to select the winner, first and second runner up. The criteria for the judging will be based on the type of disability aligned to the creative efforts made by them.

ETD wants to create an atmosphere for permitting these kids too to feel the joy of creating a Vesak lantern of their own to be exhibited and seen by the public. The title Our Lantern Talks is based on the message those lanterns can convey to the public; these special children are conveying a message through their efforts: ‘We are there too’.

This project is unique and certainly will capture the essence of Vesak. These special kids have their own talents and it’s up to us to recognise it and bring it into the open. Give them a chance. This world is as much theirs.
