Nayana Mawilmada, a renowned Urban Development and Infrastructure expert currently in Sri Lanka and holding the prestigious role of Director General will speak to the members, guests and public on a very important and current topic ‘The Development of the Megapolis’ and perhaps how the private sector and its managers may contribute towards its successful implementation.
With the enormous traffic congestion that prevails in the greater part of Colombo, there is a crying need to provide suitable alternatives such as new and more modern rapid transport and introduction of perhaps new road rules/regulations to overcome such congestions so as to save time for commuters and millions of dollars on fuel expenditure.
Nayana Mawilmada holds a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Boston, a Masters in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Massachusetts USA, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Hampton Virginia USA.
He has held some very important, responsible and prestigious roles at ADB Bank in Manila as a Strategic Planner, Infrastructure Sector Advisor to the National Parliament for East Timor at UNDP, as Urban Development Specialist at ADB Bank, Manila and among other significant appointments as Urban Planner/Project Planner for Sasaki Associates in Massachusetts, USA.
He has a very impressive profile, having had the experience in the fields of Strategic Planning, Urban Development and Infrastructure and Project Management, in several countries to name a few, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, East Timor, India, Korea, Laos, Maldives, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and USA.
An eloquent speaker, Nayana has very kindly consented to speak to the TMC members, guests and the public on Tuesday 29 March at 6:30 p.m.
